About Us
Thank you for your interest in hunting and fishing with us at Treasure Hunter Lodge. We are 100% committed to making your trip a very memorable and enjoyable "Trip of a Lifetime!" Kurt grew up in Kalispell, Montana playing just about every sport imaginable as well as fishing, hunting and outdoor recreating. After playing football for the Wyoming Cowboys from 1989 to 1993 and co-captaining the 1993 team, he graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Business Administration.
Having been bitten by the fishing bug and wanting to head "North to Alaska", Kurt started out guiding float fishing trips in Alaska during the summer of 1995 and returned every year until becoming a full-time Alaska resident in 2000. Kurt began guiding big game hunts in 1996 and has guided for many excellent hunting and fishing outfitters in Alaska, Mexico and Wyoming. Kurt guided fly fishermen for three summers near Saratoga, Wyoming and has hunted and fished Africa, Alaska, Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, New Zealand and the Lower 48. In Alaska, Kurt has guided for Brown, Grizzly, and Black Bears, Mountain Goats, Dall Sheep, Caribou, Moose, Deer, Wolf, Ducks, and Fish. It is his passion! Kurt worked as a deckhand on salt water fishing trips in 2000 and has spent every summer since chasing the monster Halibut, Lingcod, Rockfish and Salmon of Southeast Alaska.
We established our guiding business in 2004 and we purchased & began remodeling our home into Treasure Hunter Lodge in the winter of 2014. Kurt had the "Glacier" custom built in Bellingham, Washington in 2005. Our second boat, "Treasure Hunter" was custom built in Port Angeles, Washington by Crozier Craft, Inc. in the winter of 2014/15. Kurt's newest skiff, "Trinity" is also a custom Crozier Craft aluminum welded boat, built in the winter of 2015/16. Between the larger boats and our flotilla of smaller watercraft, our guests have been welcomed aboard to enjoy the wonders of the waters of Southeast Alaska since 2005.
Kurt is a fully licensed Alaskan Master Guide/Outfitter #211, an Alaskan Fishing guide, holds a USCG Master 100 Ton Captain's License, an FAA Commercial Pilot's License and currently owns and operates Treasure Hunter Lodge, LLC along with his wife Trina Nation. Both Kurt and Trina are members of the Alaska Professional Hunters Association, Safari Club International and the Boone & Crockett Club.
Trina grew up in Carbon County, Wyoming and graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1997 with degrees in General Biology and Fish & Wildlife Management. She ventured North and became a full time resident of America's Last Frontier in 2007. Raised hunting, she quickly took aim at the amazing animals Alaska has to offer and has bagged a Reindeer, Sitka black-tailed deer, Coastal Black Bear, Mountain Goat, Common Grizzly Bear, and Alaska Yukon Moose! She holds a USCG Master 100 Ton Captain's License, an Alaska Assistant Hunting Guide license and an Alaska Fishing Guide license. Trina served as a deckhand & wildlife spotter for two seasons aboard a wildlife watching tour boat in Sitka, Alaska. With countless hours of wildlife observation and gleaning knowledge from the onboard naturalist, Trina is quite familiar with most everything in our amazing Alaskan habitat. She is an energetic and gracious hostess that loves to show you the wonders of Southeast Alaska. Trina is an excellent cook and extremely fun to be around. She is the daughter of long-time Wyoming hunting guide Bill Nation and grew up with guns & fishing rods in her hands. She has guided many hunters and anglers to their trophies and does a great job. She has been aboard the "Glacier" since 2007 ensuring you are well-fed and having fun. Everyone loves Trina!
The bottom line is this: we are passionate about what we do & will do our best to send you home with your trophies and make your Alaskan adventure safe, enjoyable, memorable and fun. We are both licensed guides with current First Aid, CPR and AED training to help you enjoy and relax on your "Trip of a Lifetime!"
